Wifi not really off after reboot

Hi,

I'm currently running openwrt-15.05.1-mpc85xx-generic-tl-wdr4900-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade on an WDR4900.

I have wifi disabled by default. The problem is when I reboot the AP consumes 6.4 Watt idle, but when I manually turn wifi on and then manually turn it off again it drops to 5.6 Watt idle.

So my guess is even though the interfaces are all properly disabled after startup the wifi chip/driver isn't made aware of that state.

Anything I can do, other than hacks in local startup where I enable and disable the wifi again, to have it properly turned off with lower power consumption after startup?

Thanks

jw

Any reason why you are running an ancient OpenWrt version instead of 18.06.1?

Yes, I recently tried upgrading and had servere NAT performance issues. Sadly the 4.14 kernel and the flow offloading changes didn't make it to mpc85xx yet.
