Wifi Mesh issue with Xiaomi 4A Gigabit

Directly addressed to the user @Panji who had the same problem and already solved it in this thread:

@Panji can you please help me to sort it out too? You wrote you solved by installing the OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r21379 but I'm not aware of how to make it.

Please advice, many thanks!

Hi @WillByers ,
There is an issue on 5Ghz WIFI driver (mt76) and this is not only impacting xiaomi mi4A.
Openwrt stable release still have some issue in 5Ghz band, however this has been sorted out in snapshot build.
You can download snapshot build from openwrt site.

Hi @Panji thanks for your reply.
Can you please link me where to download the right snapshot build file?
Or, even better, would you share a Xiaomi MI 4A Router firmware backup, in order for me to simply upload it on my router?

This would be much appreciated and would save me from Arkham! >.<

Use below link. Will try to upload my compiled firmware when I have time.

Thank you so much @Panji . I managed to install the snapshot, then installed LuCi and again made the whole mesh setup.

NOW IT WORKSSSSSS! Thank you so much my OCD was pushing me to death with this apparently irresolvable issue.

Kudos

Glad to know it worked!! By the way, openwrt mt76 driver is not yet perfect, it still has speed issue, but snapshot driver is far more better than stable version.

You can try to compile openwrt with mtk proprietary driver for better performance, however the setup for wifi mesh is too complicated, thus I am not using it.

Do you have some reference online for me to find the mtk proprietary drivers and how to install them on openwrt?

Thanks
