Wifi issue with MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688

Hello everyone,

I am Claude living in France, and got recently some issue with a device, Minidsp WiDG [https://www.minidsp.com/products/accessories/wi-dg], this is why I am trying to find some help/support here :slightly_smiling_face:

Normally, this device is connected to a router (belonging to the ISP) and accessible from a PC via Wifi in a local network.
On another side it is wired connected to an audio device.

> Blockquote

From the PC, through a plugin we can drive this audio device through the WiDG.
Recently this device started to function abnormally, and was no more accessible through Wifi.

What I did:
Connect this device to my PC using ethernet cable and could login into this device .
I discovered that OS is OpenWrt, and made some investigations in order to (try to) understand how it works.

What is occuring really:
The WiDG, configured in STAtion mode (this is done through the WiDG interface), is seen by the router during 3-4 secs and disappears 2 secs, appears 3-4 secs, disappears ...and so on.
The WiDG is given no IP address and is marked as not reachable on the router interface.

Please, find here under some technical infos:

I notice the weakness of the wifi devices -256 dBm and I am wondering if this value is correct or if the WiDG is facing hardware issue.
On another hand, maybe I am missing something.

Thank you in advance for your help/support ...

how is this related to openwrt ?

"it's running openwrt" isn't a valid answer.

                "description": "OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1"
        }
}

you need to ask the people who created the image, not us, it didn't come from here.

It appears you are using firmware that is not from the official OpenWrt project.

When using forks/offshoots/vendor-specific builds that are "based on OpenWrt", there may be many differences compared to the official versions (hosted by OpenWrt.org). Some of these customizations may fundamentally change the way that OpenWrt works. You might need help from people with specific/specialized knowledge about the firmware you are using, so it is possible that advice you get here may not be useful.

You may find that the best options are:

  1. Install an official version of OpenWrt, if your device is supported (see https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org).
  2. Ask for help from the maintainer(s) or user community of the specific firmware that you are using.
  3. Provide the source code for the firmware so that users on this forum can understand how your firmware works (OpenWrt forum users are volunteers, so somebody might look at the code if they have time and are interested in your issue).

If you believe that this specific issue is common to generic/official OpenWrt and/or the maintainers of your build have indicated as such, please feel free to clarify.

Ok I see ...
Thank you for answering....even if not OpenWrt related ....
