(WiFi 6 vs. 6E) Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) vs. Acer Predator W6

I am looking for a new AP (there will be a dedicated N100 6x i226 as pure router) which will replace my ipq40xx (limits my network a lot currently: WiFi 5 2x2 80 MHz 866 MBit/s)

I have a Intel AX210 in my notebook which can do max:
5GHz (2.402Gb/s, 2x2, 160MHz)
6GHz WLAN (2.402Gb/s, 2x2, 160MHz)

I think my requirements are:

  • '>=' WiFi6
  • 160 MHz support
  • 2.5 GBe

Now I am struggling whether it is worth to invest in WiFi 6E. As far as I can see, the speed is identical (due to max 160MHz) but it uses 6GHz frequencies which might be less used (less collision). Is 6GHz beneficial or is not a real difference compared to 5GHZ@WiFi6?

The Acer Predator W6 costs >200€ and does not look that well xD

The Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) as pre-order seems to be very cheap with around 100€

Is there something else I need to consider? I mean, it is an investment for the next years...

WRX36 is cheaper, if you can find it.
MR90X probably is, too.
WAX206 can be.

single port 2.5GbE devices - link.

dual port 2.5GbE devices - link.

list will be incomplete, since new devices doesn't automagically get added to the ToH.

Thank you for the recommendations :slight_smile:
