Why you stop supporting huawei hg556a version A in snapshots feed and 24.10 rc ? And the hg556a ver B is supported by the two feed where the two versions have the same hardware!!
Your device is ancient and on the absolute edge of the supported ram and flash requirements, it’s surprising any of them are still being built.
Have you tried to build it? 16/64 should be ok?
Its still a good device and with enough ram and rom

But you are the one with the device and to build 24 or snapshot and boot it.
In worst case 23.x has a year ahead so your 10y old router is not yet e-waste

It is not built in 24.10, thus encouragement to build it 
This snapshot build was build in 7/2024 so its old than 24.10 new build

They remove the hg556a ver A from build profil so sad
You could try to restore it, as for why - probably just some dev forgot some line in some file.
At the point in time of that PR, HG556a A hadn't been moved to the replacement bmips target (as can be seen due to the non-existent DTS for hg556a A in https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/tree/5cd8e037b5063b5b64c155fb8224dfbdcb0a53bb/target/linux/bmips/dts), so it was simply lost.

bcm63xx target was removed from snapshot and bmips target is used for that platform now, but HG556a A was not migrated to bmips target. (HG556a B was migrated to bmips)
One with device can take up on it.

Exactly this the problem
Then do the migration yourself, using the B as the template.
Then build it, test it and submit a PR to renable compilation.
With a device this limited and old it seems unlikely anyone else will be interested in doing it for you

You can close this and github issue, the "WHY" is not a bug report and needs no action taken. You can try to make a PR cherry-picking snapshot rev A support into 24.10, but it requires active participation from you, not making questions provoking guilt from anonymous "you"

As minimum confirmation snapshot works will already contribute to chance of device support coming to 24.10. Check around wiki. You need to build firmware 24.10 with DTS file from SNAPSHOT + some other decorations. Should be very similar (but not identical) to rev B
