Why does the CPU needs to be "informed" about the vlan traffic?

Hello,

I'm using an Ubiquiti UniFi AC Pro with OpenWrt 24.10.0 r28427. It offers several wlans, which are connected to several vlans.

In order to make this work I had to include eth0 tagged into each vlan. I'm not sure, if this the best way to do it.

kind regards

This is because the WiFi radios are not connected to the switch itself. That means the system must create a bridge (effectively a switch in software). So the cpu must be aware of the vlan order to bridge it to the radio hardware.
