What to choice as for main router TP-Link TL-WR843N/ND v1 or Buffalo WHR-G300N v2?

Hello have dilema here have two routers and one need choice,as for replace to main home internet main router.Options Buffalo WHR-G300N v2 with not Openwrt fw or TP-Link TL-WR843N/ND v1 with LEDE Reboot 17.01.6 r3979-2252731af4 / LuCI lede-17.01 branch (git-18.201.27126-7bf0367)
For compare Buffalo tech data https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Buffalo_WHR-G300N_v2 and TP-Link tech data https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_TL-WR843ND in other words need pick one from two cheap things.:grinning:

Both are very poor choices and support for 4/32 devices will end after 2019.

Check out the pinned thread on “Favorite cheap” devices.

I wouldn’t recommend buying anything with less than 16 MB of flash or with less than 128 MB of RAM. They start at around US$20 with many excellent options around US$40.

have what we have these both devices costed both ~10€ so i dont expect some magic from these  and internet connection speed not reaching even 50mbps.

You'd be much better off buying a supported, used BT HomeHub or the like for the same or less.

Those devices you refer to were obsolete a decade ago and nearly unsupportable for a couple years now. They're dead now.

https://openwrt.org/toh/start -- DO NOT BUY DEVICES WITH 4MB FLASH / 32MB RAM

Edit:

If you already own these devices, are prepared to build your own images, and know that likely you will have to remove LuCI in the near future and basically won't be able to install any packages on them at all, the current pages for them are

https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr843nd -- AR9341 at 535 MHz

https://openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/whr-g300nv2 -- AR7240 at 400 MHz

Of the two, the TP-Link unit appears to be marginally more powerful.

Support for 4/32 devices ends after 2019.

It is unlikely that these 4/32 devices will perform adequately and reliably, even at 50 mbps. Lack of RAM alone would be enough to make that statement.

yup already own these 2 devices,TP-Link WR843nd running with LEDE Reboot 17.01.6 r3979-2252731af4 / LuCI lede-17.01 branch (git-18.201.27126-7bf0367) and can be upgrade to Openwrt 18.0.6,and in Buffalo stuck with other 3rd part firmware, latest possible Openwrt for him is 17.01.2 because i have WHR-G300N v2,but if i had with v1,then can try install Openwrt 18.0.6,its like locked circle. Now just stuck with not Openwrt.:thinking:For own images building dont have possibilities.

Its not true that the Buffalo WHR-G300N v2 support only 17.01.2 . The WHR-G300N v2 is supporting the verry latest ath79 based images from 19.07.2 . I updated the wiki with the latest download links here: https://openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/whr-g300nv2

The ath79 openwrt support is been added by INAGAKI Hiroshi here: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commit;h=9e6f22e30994a38b0af709956d66b8b05221afb2 . Buffalo WHR-G301N is the same as WHR-G300N v2 (read in the wiki).

Someone have just forgotten to update the wiki firmware image.

where i mentioned that Buffalo supports only 17.01.2 ?just not recommended put newest openwrt release in 4/32 devices, thats it.
