Hi, newbie with TL-WR841N that I put openWrt on quite some time ago.
wanting to either upgrade the firmware (but I read that 19.07 will be the last official build for this model, it currently has 18.06.1) or revert to the original firmware.
I'll probably just be using it as a switch, so I'm guessing it's much of a muchness.
My main concern is security.
Any advice?
Thanks.
Upgrading to 19.07 will most likely cause stability issues, so if I were you I'd stick to 18.06.X for as long as it is around. You could go for 18.06.6 or wait a little bit and try 18.06.7
Okay, thanks trendy.
I'm just looking into Image Building.
Going okay (first build running on vm now), but I'm not really following the 'Saving firmware space':
under ' Modifying build configuration variables' I see stuff I can do using make menuconfig, but the stuff above 'Making all kernel modules built-in' seems to mostly assume I'm using the imagebuilder. Is this correct?
Is there a simply guide to how to translate the tips re using imagebuilder to save firmware space into tips re using the menuconfig?
Kind regards
I am not familiar with imagebuilder, so I'll let someone else answer that.
Okay, thanks I'll start a new thread since it's really a different question.
Nice penguin!
