What does (no IR, radar detection) mean

Hi there,

I have a question regarding to the iw list result here:

What does this "no IR" and "radar detection" mean?
Also I would like to know is there way to check if radar is detected? Can i scan for radar on my own somehow?

			* 5700 MHz [140] (10.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
			* 5745 MHz [149] (10.0 dBm) (no IR)

They're described here pretty well: https://superuser.com/questions/809282/wifi-5ghz-ap-mode-what-does-no-ir-means-and-can-i-bypass-it.

If radar is detected you should see it in the logs: Radar Detected? Really?.

Search here for "dfs radar" for background reading.

Thank you, and do you know perhaps What "no IR" means too?

That's why I picked that first link :slight_smile:: "The NO-IR flag then means you cannot use modes of operation that require you to initiate radiation first".

In other words the device can listen for traffic / connections on that channel and join them if appropriate, but it should not be the first to send traffic (that is "initiate radiation" = IR)
