What blocks 19.07 release?

it was about to released at the same time with 18.0.4, but it didn't and it's almost end of the month. is there critical bug on it?

There are no noticable bugs in 19.07 branch. You can "release" it anytime for yourself.
Delay in official release is because most likely noone really cares for the release and has no time to do it.

the last https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/faillogs-19.07/ are dated 25/07

Where did you get that information?

Is it going to be called 19.08? Just curious

It will still be called 19.07. That always happens. 18.06 wasn't released in June either.

@tmomas, @jow Is there an update regarding 19.07?

What can we do to get 19.07 release done?

Now it's October and I don't even see a release candidate to test. Probably it should be renamed to 19.12 or even 20.01 if still nobody cares about this release.

Maybe it is waiting for the next LTS kernel 5.4 to be released end of October or beginning of November.

There is really no point to release now something with kernel 4.19 with EoL Dec, 2020

IIRC 19.07 uses 4.14 and don't enable 4.19

Oh really, there used to be 4.19 around, seems like it been pulled since then. Ever more so a reason not to release 19.x

I also posted this link. But: this is a development snapshot, not a release candidate and not a final release.

Do we need a release? If yes, what needs to be done to create it?

Who is waiting for this and who wants to migrate 19.07 to a new kernel?

I guess our understanding of "candidate" in this instance may vary.

No reason the developers forked 19-snapshot with LuCI - except for a candidate...or at minimum, a work space for said release..."Que Será, Será..."
I do agree in the meantime weeks (months) have elapsed, though.

Also, I don't think it was forked just to reincorporate another kernel later...that would be a nightmare.

BTW, @odrt, you don't have to make a post to reply to each person, we can all view the postings.

Probably as long as there are still (plenty) https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/faillogs-19.07/ it is not deemed ready for a release.

A release candidate in the past I know was named RCx, was made available on https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/ and announced on https://openwrt.org/releases/start

Please see e.g. 17.01.0-rc1, -rc2 and respectively 18.06.0-rc1 and -rc2.

I don't see something like this for 19.07 and I ask if someone needs a new release what we could do to create it.

Hello everybody,
when will it continue with a new release?
Where is the problem ?

This is the fail log? https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/faillogs-19.07/
As long as entries appear there, 19.07 is unlikely to be released?

I'm eager to install 19.07 because I want to make use of the LuCI install for DoH encryption. It's been a few months now that 19.07 is being worked on so I thought it would be released soon but it looks like there is still much bug fixing to be done?

So install it or a master snapshot.

BTW, since the project stated that it will cut new release branches every six months, why not wait for “20.01”, which, by that timing, should be branched imminently.

Don’t hold your breath. “Timely” is apparently not an embodied value of the project.
