Wavlink Router

Hi everyone,

I have a Wavlink WL-WN573HX1 (Rev b1) outdoor router, and I’m interested in installing OpenWRT on it.

I’ve seen that this device appears to be supported in recent OpenWRT versions, but I also came across some older discussions mentioning issues related to SPI flash detection (JEDEC ID) and missing Ethernet interfaces during boot.

Before I proceed, I’d like to confirm a few things from people who have actual experience with this device:

  1. Is the WL-WN573HX1 (Rev b1) fully supported in the current stable releases (e.g., 24.10.x)?
  2. Can it be installed safely using the factory image without requiring patches or custom builds?
  3. Are there any known issues (Ethernet ports, WiFi, boot problems, etc.) in the latest versions?
  4. Is it possible to recover the device via TFTP if something goes wrong, especially without UART access?

Unfortunately, I don’t have UART access at the moment, so I want to be cautious before attempting anything that might brick the device.

Any advice, confirmations, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
