Wan via wifi and separate ssid

I have my openwrt device connected to my main routers SSID using client mode and network wwan which works as expected ie openwrt device can ping out etc. What i want to do now is add a separate wifi network/ssid so my clients connect to that.

In wireless configuration i have added a second network with ESSID "OpenWrt" in Access Point (WDS) mode and network lan. I can connect to ssid OpenWrt from my laptop and i get an ip form the Openwrt subnet but i'm unable to ping the internet form it i.e 8.8.8.8 am I using the wrong "mode" on this interface or have i missed something else?

what DNS IP(s) does the client get ?

Have you allowed on the firewall the forwarding from the zone of the new network to the zone of the wwan network? Is wwan zone masquerading?
