Vlan on router port

Hi all,

II have a belkin rt3200 and I would like to take one of the rear ports and separate it in a vlan for only internet access and no local access. I have tried many things including ChatGPT but I am unable to accomplish this. Here my current version of wrt

Any guidance is definitely appreciated

start by upgrading, 22.03.3 is outdated and unsupported.

read https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/e8450 before you do.

I did initally flash the router with the dangowrt method, so this means that if I simply download the upgrade and upload it, it should upgrade the version with no issues right?

guess you didn't read the wiki page ... ?

You must first flash the new dangowrt installer as an upgrade from 23. Then flash the latest 24. If you go directly from 23 to 24 it will break.

so I was able to successfully upgrade to Ver 24. Now do can I go about separating one of the physical ports into it's own vlan to segregate it from other network devices?

Yes, you can now remove one port from the existing bridge and put it into a new interface.

Do you happen to know a guide that I could follow. I have tried different ones but simply are out of date and not working. I have also tried using ChatGPT but the steps provided do not work either

There isn't a guide to cover your specific situation, but I'd start with the guest wifi tutorial. Skip the wifi part, but do the rest. Then, post your network config (cat /etc/config/network) and we'll show you the edits you need to make.
