Using windows VPN with OpenWRT router

Hi

This has been driving me mad. So I’ve got a Brume2. With glinet stock firmware I don’t have to make any changes out of the box, the company vpn I use (which connects via built in windows VPN - PPTP) has no problem at all. However since flashing the latest stable openwrt 24.10 it no longer connects. I’ve tried the normal opening windows port and also compared my Luci original glinet firewall settings with openwrt firewall but still doesn’t work. Expect this is very straightforward but what am I doing wrong? Thanks!

@walterwhite4 it took several requests to GL to make that a default package in their firmware.

lol thanks @hecatae

To be honest I think it should be default with openwrt as well. Things like connecting to a windows vpn should just work out of the box. I’ve always purchased my own routers and used them rather than the junk you get with broadband providers, yet never run into this issue until installing vanilla openwrt

Now this is working alongside controld, I’ve got the full functionality I need and won’t need to go back to glinet firmware

I disagree, pptp vpns are insecure, and outdated.
Are you missing anything else that just worked in stock firmware?

No it’s great now that I’ve got there and resolved the vpn issue

PPTP = outdated and insecure for over a decade
Just to remind you...
