User Experience for MTC WR1201 (1200M Dual Band 16dBi Outdoor CPE)

Hello,

Please can someone share his/her user experience on MTC WR1201. We are considering purchasing the device and I want to know if it actually covers 5km radius and whether it is reliable equipment. I also will have to know who the manufacturers of the equipment are.

Thank you.

Harc

Certainly not if you stay inside law.

LOL, where did you read that ? AliExpress ?

You do realize wifi uses bi-directional commication ?
The device in the other end have to be equally powerful.

I've got one, been very stable since I bought it, several years ago.
I use it as a separate WLAN for my IoT devices.
Not within a 5km radius though

I'm sure google knows.

Thanks for your feedback Frollic. I was intending to deploy it with a Starlink internet device at the base station, with the MTC ER1201 equipment will be transmitting to Teltonika Routers within a 2.5km radius. Do you think it will serve the purpose?

Thanks

Likely equipment put for sale does not even exist.
Theoretical omnidirectional range is <200m, more practically 30-50m in open dry air.

Are those capable of transmitting in a 2.5 km radius ?

Def not.

We actually intend to deploy a secondary MTC WR1201 CPE closer to the Teltonika routers for connectivity. Is it a good idea, please?

One inch is slightly smaller than one meter.

Perhaps what you need is a point-to-point setup?

Thanks...could point to multipoints also be a good idea?

Thanks for sharing the link, it was very useful and helpful

based on @brada4's link, you would only need 16 or so devices for a 2.5.km radius, in one direction.

will a point to multipoint be a possible solution? what device can you recommend to handle that?

You dont seem to get it - you need a very directional antenna to traverse that distance.

it's the only solution.

have a look at (for instance) https://www.tp-link.com/se/business-networking/outdoor-radio/.
