Usb wireless adapter + usb extension = error?

Hello,

I have a tl-mr3020 with an external wireless adapter (zydas mr1211) configured as a wifi client, while the internal wifi radio of the mr3020 as an AP. it's working great so far.

To extend the range even more, I used a simple usb extension of 1.5 mettres to connect the wireless adapter, this is when things becomes abnormal:

The usb wireless adapter can't connect and the kernel keep adding to the log :

usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform
usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci-platform
usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci-platform
usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci-platform

Once I remove the usb extension and connect the usb wireless adapter directly it works fine.

Could anyone tell me what's the problem ? I use this usb extension with this usb wireless with my linux laptop without any issue.

Greetings.

  1. Measure voltage and current of the USB Wifi adapter
    a) directly at the MR3020
    b) at the end of the USB extension
  2. Try a different USB extension
  3. Try a powered USB hub connected directly at the MR3020 or at the end of the USB extension.
