Usb printer prints same page indefinitely

After completing printer server setup, I sent one page to print, but it kept printing the same page (switched printer off after 7 pages).
Router - r7800
Printer - hp1020

Had to add script to "/etc/hotplug.d/usb" to send firmware every time printer is connected from this guide:

Any ideas where to start?

Hi @citrus

I have same problem with Win10 and hp1022n
you are using 1020 as network printer, so the solution might be same
i needed to disable SNMP and? or? bidirectional communication in Win10 printer driver
after that, everything work fine

Thanks, that was exactly the problem.
Disabled bidirectional support in windows printer ports settings.
Havent tested yet, but probably print on both sides will not work without bidirectional options

Out of curiosity, do you still have to send the firmware to the printer, if you have disabled bi-directional support?

Yes, firmware still has to be sent. Writing a script is only one time thing so its not an issue.
Think its only a HP thing as samsung printer works without problems

oic, we have some old Brother lasers and don't need to send firmware to them.

Hi

i am glad that you solved

bidirectional port settings have nothing to do with simplex/duplex pages
it is the way how windows communicate with device at low level, nothing else

I have read in some forum that bidirectional support is for feedback from printer.

As suspected, printing on both sides doesnt work and i dont get notification to flip paper and press continue. Printer just waits for confirmation and wont allow any further printing.
also sending print wont wake the printer if it goes to "sleep".

I'm happy that it sort of works for now, but maybe I'll find a solution for that.
