USB_ModeSwitch & modems with voice

Colleagues, tell me how I can generally understand how to solve my problem.

I need to connect USB modems with sound.
Of course, they pretend to be CD-ROMs. They need to be dissuaded from this harmful delusion.
I also want each modem to have its own name assigned to it in /dev.
I plan to try connecting E173, E173u-1 and E1550 modems.

Clearly I need to use the USB_ModeSwitch program, but I don't understand how to configure it.
I found a document that tells to create a json file with settings. In addition, I found an example on git, from which it follows that no json is needed, but I need to create a directory with files whose names correspond to the USB parameters of the modems. I didn’t understand what to actually do.

In addition, I do not understand what needs to be done so that this entire system starts automatically in response to a modem connection event.

Tell me if there is some more or less complete HOWTO or article from which I can generally understand the mechanics of this matter.

Ogogon.

Most of these legacy Huawei modems can be configured (once) to work in the required configuration, so usb_modeswitch will not be needed at all.
Alternatively you can use usb_modeswitch if you wish, however no configuration is required.

To assign fixed names, you will probably need to create a hotplug script.

Thank you. How can I switch this modem and save the new status? Do I need to change the firmware or is there some kind of utility?

If you have a modeswitch installed, let it do its job when the modem is freshly inserted and then post the output of cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices

I don't really understand how to run this program. It's installed on the system, but I can't find the binary for it.

You don't need to manually run it.

Install kmod-usb-serial-option and picocom
Access the modem with picocom /dev/ttyUSBx - you will probably need to manually find the tty port that responds to AT command, then query the modem with:

at^setport?

Thank you. I got some positive results...
I can somehow understand whether it was the modeswitch that switched the modem or was it in the correct mode from the very beginning?

14ac is switched, initially it probably was 1446.

e1550 is too old, I don't even remember what is the appropriate command to check/change modes, but you can try the same at^setport with e173.
