Very difficult time to be alive. You don’t have a lot of options.
You will hardly find LTE dongles any more, as they got no longer produced since 2020. And those that you will find, will often be left overs of 6-8 year old tech, used ones and first generation LTE ones that don’t even offer the higher LTE bandwidth modes or lack security updates.
While hardly any 2nd gen LTE or 5G dongles are produced at all, since antennas and stuff can’t be squeezed into USB dongle size.
A lot of the (few) dongles, though having USB-A, don’t act like classic modems, but rather act like a LAN network card with USB bridge. Which can be anoying due to lack of config options, but on the otherhand can more easily be attached to any OpenWRT router without having to worry about whether they will run at all.
You might want to check, what the available shops in your country have to offer, what used ones eBay and garage sales offer over several weeks.
And maybe also consider larger mobile access points, which unfortunately mostly are not able to run OpenWRT (but sometimes a bad option is better than no option).
If you have a short list of available options in your country, maybe post the list and people in the forum can give input on them.
The thing is i bought OLAX F90 USB dongle and on PC it works like RNDIS modem (creates Ethernet interface with http config page) but it doesnt work with OpenWrt (i tried many pakages)
Also there is Huawei Brovi, 4G, (E3372-325) also doenst work by default on OpenWrt bacause of wrond ID.
Start from sharing cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices output.
I have a network interface type one from Alcatel, which can be used like this:
On top, only make sure:
- IP range of OpenWRT LAN interface and the IP range of the stick don’t overlap
- sufficient USB power on the OpenWRT device
Linux PC or Windows? If OpenWrt only sees it as a CD drive it's a modeswitch issue.
