Usable 5GHz mesh channels?

Why does mesh only works on Channel 36, 40, 44 and 48?

Is there other channels we can use for mesh?

Kinda limited in scenarios where there would be may indoor devices that uses these channels.

Worked fine for me on channels 149+

so 36, 40, 44 and 48 (for the lower channels)
and 149, 153, 157, 161 and 165 (for the higher channels)

OK thanks

Why channels above 48 and below 149 not able to mesh?

Is it truly an:

  • inability to mesh; or
  • the WiFi warns you that radar was detected on those channels, so they don't connect

These are the "DFS" channels where an AP must look for radar signals and change to a different channel if radar is detected. Mesh operation requires the channel be selected in advance. Mesh nodes will not scan other channels if no peers are detected. DFS has the principle that the channel can change.
