I have tried several times today to upgrade my Linksys EA8300 running OpenWRT 23.05.4 to 24.10.3. Each time I've tried, it will begin the upgrade, the router reboots, and then... nothing. The Linksys light on the top doesn't come on. The only action I see are the ethernet activity lights on the back still work. I also tried 24.10.2 with no luck. I'm open to any suggestions or things I may have missed. I've tried using the sysupgrade.bin packages for 24.10.2 and 24.10.3 without success. I have tried both through LuCI and SSH.
Just as an extra test, I was able to upgrade to 23.05.6, but when I tried to jump to 24.10.0 it failed in exactly the same manner as before.
Did you already https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/ea8300#upgrading_openwrt_from_22035_into_23xx_or_snapshot_images ?
We can assume that he did this, otherwise he shouldn't have been able to install any 23.05 yet. I participated in the testing of this, and the original author of the tweak precisely tested it on a EA8300.
@JELollis Did you try to flash without keeping settings? Can we assume that you are flahsing the default image, or at least a small custom image? Flash at least 24.10.1 due to a switch management issue in 24.10.0.
Yes, I was flashing without keeping settings. I went back to doublecheck that kernel sizing was set and found the value wasn't right so I will fix that and try again.
Should be easy to fix so. Tweak the boot variable and reboot, everything should be fine. You can then flash 24.10.3 and even keep settings.
