Upgrade of TL-WR1043ND fails, format not supportet

Hello community!

I am quite new to this, so I guess I could need some help:

I got a TL-WR1043ND V3 with the firmware Version: "OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 / LuCI 15.05-149-g0d8bbd2 Release (git-15.363.78009-956be55)" and would like to upload the up to date firmware "openwrt-19.07.6-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin" by using the LuCI interface. Keep Settings is deactivated.
By pressing "Flash image..." I receive the failure message: "The uploaded image file does not contain a supported format. Make sure that you choose the generic image format for your platform." and it does not proceed to the checksum page.

I recognized that on Status Overview page the listed Model is a "TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v2" the type label on the back of the router clearly states "V3.0".

Any help is appreciated!

That's because you're switching between OpenWrt target architectures.

Log in through SSH, copy the image to /tmp (e.g. with FileZilla if you use Windows, or scp on Linux), then issue this command through SSH:

# sysupgrade -F -n /tmp/openwrt-19.07.6-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wr1043nd-v3-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
