Upgrade from 24.10.0 to 24.10.1 still as 24.10.0

Hi,

I successfully upgraded my Redmi AC2100 to version 24.10.1 without any issues.
However, on my Redmi AX6000, after upgrading from 24.10.0 to 24.10.1, the version still shows as 24.10.0.
I tried the upgrade using both LuCI and owup, but the result is the same.

owut upgrade

Is there some upgrade log can I check ?

If you rebooted, there isn't.

Yes:

$ owut upgrade
...
Installing /tmp/firmware.bin and rebooting...

Waiting boot...

$ cat /etc/openwrt_release | grep DISTRIB_RELEASE
DISTRIB_RELEASE='24.10.0'
$ reboot

Waiting boot...

$ cat /etc/openwrt_release | grep DISTRIB_RELEASE
DISTRIB_RELEASE='24.10.0'

So, does this mean you didn't reboot?

I reboot, waiting that my router boot and boot. I have rebooted, uptime confirm that.

I have already used attended sysupgrade from 23.5 to 24.10 on my 2 devices.

I have the same on
Zyxel EX5601-T0 ubootmod
also mediatek/filogic

Do these device have a dual partition scheme??? (Just wondering without digging into device details, as that has historically caused this sort of issue.)

Ubootmod is 100% Openwrt flash space - 400mb.

If you have some way of tracking the requests, I can make one from my T-56s, same device.

I have tried upgrading two EX5601-T0 ubootmod

One went fine, 24.10.0 -> 24.10.1, working great
( luci unattended system upgrade)

Other one 23.05.5 r24106 -> 24.10.1
Keeps hanging on 'copying from browser' ( luci unattended system upgrade)
Sadly didn't had the time to debug, didn't try a reboot yet, it is mine main router.

luci attended system upgrade appeared to work but left me on 24.10.0 also. Tried a second time and it worked.
"dual partition scheme" might be the right guess.

I don't know how to check this, the device page doesn't mention this.

I see my root partiation is 100% full, but I don't know if this is normal

root@OpenWrt:~# df

also the memory usage seems to be ok

edit:

I used ASU,
now I tried owut I noticed the warning

but nowhere my confirmation is asked and it just continues and it reboots, then nothing is updated
And I also don't know which package is missing

root is /rom, no point in creating a ROM with free space.

This is an ubootmod install, running ubus call system board should tell you the same thing.

this tells me

root@OpenWrt:~# ubus call system board
{
        "kernel": "6.6.73",
        "hostname": "OpenWrt",
        "system": "ARMv8 Processor rev 4",
        "model": "Zyxel EX5601-T0 ubootmod",
        "board_name": "zyxel,ex5601-t0-ubootmod",
        "rootfs_type": "squashfs",
        "release": {
                "distribution": "OpenWrt",
                "version": "24.10.0",
                "revision": "r28427-6df0e3d02a",
                "target": "mediatek/filogic",
                "description": "OpenWrt 24.10.0 r28427-6df0e3d02a",
                "builddate": "1738624177"
        }
}

.... you do the math.

yes But, I don't know is uboot uses a dual partition scheme or not.
(I actually don't even really know what uboot does, except that this way the only way to get OpenWrt working on my device)

It doesn't, "you" have wiped anything Zyxel (or Odido) related and maximized the Openwrt flash space.

I'm experiencing same thing on Xiaomi Redmi Router AX6000 (OpenWrt U-Boot layout). Tried upgrading from luci with attendedsysupgrade and owut from cli. Every time I upgrade I see previous version 24.10.0.

Add --verbose to your owut command line, it will then list out all of the package changes and some other stuff.
