Upgrade from 19.07.4 to 19.07.5 fails after restoring archive

Device WRT3200ACM Rango
Current version OpenWrt 19.07.4 r11208-ce6496d796

  • When I update to 19.07.5 (openwrt-19.07.5-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys_wrt3200acm-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin) it fails after restoring the generated archive I made in version 19.07.4.

  • (I can’t reach the router and have to push the reset button to gain access again, so without the restored archive I do can get in)
I tried the default ip addresses and the ones in my archive backup, so both dhcp and manual does not get me access.

  • But when I install version 19.07.4 again and restore the archive, it works flawlessly

I did try to make a list of installed packages with
/bin/opkg list-installed > /etc/config/my_installed_packages
so the same packages are installed.

Maybe I have to this before the archive restore instead of after? (just thinking out loud)

/bin/opkg list-installed > /etc/config/my_installed_packages

And make them work in the new build 19.07.5 with

opkg update && opkg list-installed | cut -f 1 -d ' ' | sort -u > /tmp/currentpkg && cat /etc/config/my_installed_packages | cut -f 1 -d ' ' | sort -u > /tmp/oldpkg && grep -v -F -x -f /tmp/currentpkg /tmp/oldpkg > /tmp/inst && opkg install $(cat /tmp/inst | sort -u) && rm /tmp/currentpkg /tmp/oldpkg /tmp/inst

Is it because my archive settings are trying to make a vpn connection and tries to start vpn-policy-routing?
So wil it help to try again, but after I edit the config files, so the are disabled after restore?

Because I cannot get into my router after upgrade and restoring my archive, I cannot figure out what is wrong.

My packages:

If you can access the router by SSH (putty) when the web-gui is not reachable (error on main).
Please check the location of file ubus.sock.

I've seen that snapshot versions use a additional ubus directory in the /etc/config/rpcd file.
Adjust this last file to correspond the 'real' location of ubus.sock.

router is not accessable at all, even by ssh. it's not a luci problem I think, I use mainly cli.

Could be due to default ip 192.168.1.1 (instead of what's in your config).
When i downgrade (with KEEP settings) it won't held the ip address.

Already tried that offcourse  I think it is a bit more complex than that. (I compiled my own version as a test, but is giving the same result)

But without my packages it is working, so it is something with packages or settings in these packages.

Did a complete new firmware install. That did the trick for now.
