Unifi 6 LR v2 sporadic 5G wireless failure

My Unifi 6 LR v2 (23.05.5) behaves perfectly almost all of the time. But about 1-2 times per month the 5G radio1 stops forwarding packets. It's been happening for a year or two now, but I can't pinpoint which release it started on.

Symptoms:

  • Nothing at all unusual in the syslog
  • No packets flow on radio1 (on any of the SSIDs)
  • Devices remain associated with radio1, as it still appears to be "up", until lack of any packets eventually causes them to roam (or sometimes to connect back to the faulty one again)
  • 2.4G radio0 remains working correctly
  • It is using AX Ch 100 width 80MHz
  • No Radar detections have occurred for many months
  • Some of the radio1 SSIDs have 802.11r enabled and some don't - the problem happens to all SSIDs simultaneously regardless of this setting
  • Restarting radio1 does not solve the problem
  • Rebooting the device always solves the problem (until it recurs some arbitrary time later)

I am completely out of ideas on how to investigate further. I can't find any other identical posts, as most focus on the older problem of radio1 not starting after boot (which I haven't had for a long time).

I am almost certain this is a v2 device, even though it is physically labelled as v1. With the v1 firmware there are led errors, and with v2 firmware there aren't and the led works as expected. Both v1 and v2 firmware suffer from this radio1 problem.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas where to go from here?

Thanks, Chris
