UniElec U7623-06 WiFi don’t work after sysupgrade to 21.02.1

UniElec U7623-06 WiFi don’t work after sysupgrade to 21.02.1

I upgraded openwrt from 19.07 to the 21.02. I also tried to keep all my configuration files and Luci ask me a lot of question to transfer to the new version (Don’t now if that works)
Now the WiFi don't show up at all... I guess no wifi modules were recognized from Linux.
Anyway, I already flashed the full image with SP Flash tool but still no WiFi.
I also already delete the \etc\config\wireless

rm /etc/config/wireless

and run:

wifi config

now the /etc/config/wireless is empty. I just can guess that there are some driver issues. I attached my "dmesg" output and my "cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices"
dmesg:

Due to the change from swconfig to DSA, configurations are not upgradeable for the following targeted devices...

ath79 (only TP-Link TL-WR941ND)
bcm4908
gemini
kirkwood
mediatek (most boards)
mvebu
octeon
ramips (mt7621 subtarget only)
realtek

Your device is a mediatek

You'll need to re-configure from scratch.

How? I thought flashing the whole .img with SP flash tool will delete everything on my device and gives me a brand new OpenWrt.

Doesn't wipe the configurations when you specify to keep them.

Do a reset and re-configure.

Done. But no Impact. Still no WiFi Tab.

So you did a reset only?

Which 21.02.1 firmware did you use to upgrade?

I first updated with the sysupgrade file from the Wiki of the U7623-06:
https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.1/targets/mediatek/mt7623/openwrt-21.02.1-mediatek-mt7623-unielec_u7623-02-emmc-512m-legacy-squashfs-sysupgrade-emmc.bin.gz

After this update (with trying to keep my config files) the wifi tap shows that the modules are NOT present.

So i flashed the the full image with SP Flash tool also from the Wiki:

https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.1/targets/mediatek/mt7623/openwrt-21.02.1-mediatek-mt7623-unielec_u7623-emmc-squashfs-img.gz

Now i don't have a Wifi Tap at all. Also after Hard Reset (with the reset button) and the Software Reset you showed me.

So in both cases, you kept the configs...correct?

No. When i Flashed with SP Flash Tool there is no option to keep the config files.

SSH in to the router and run iw list.

Post the results.

root@OpenWrt:~# iw list
-ash: iw: not found
root@OpenWrt:~#

From the CLI, run firstboot, and then reboot.

By the Way: I have the pci card MT7603 and MT7612 in the two slots

-->

root@OpenWrt:~# firstboot
This will erase all settings and remove any installed packages. Are you sure? [N/y]
y
/dev/loop0 is mounted as /overlay, only erasing files
root@OpenWrt:~# reboot
root@OpenWrt:~#
root@OpenWrt:~# iw list
-ash: iw: not found
root@OpenWrt:~#

Check if this package is installed...

If not...

opkg update

opkg install kmod-mt76

It was NOT installed. After installation and rebooting both Wifi modules show up in the Wifi Tap.

Thank you very much. You made my day :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
