Unable to get a DHCP lease on basic VLAN setup

I've tried copypasting several PPSK setup configs, but I had no luck with that.
When authenticating by using VLAN200 credentials, everything goes smooth because it uses DHCP server from a different device.
But with the isolated VLAN300, I can't get any device to connect because the connecting device is not receiving a DHCP lease.

Also, I have wpad-mbedtls instead of the default wpad-mbedtls-basic package installed.

Here are the configurations:

Please stop spraying same topic around

I would be very grateful if you linked some similar topics which actually solve this problem. I've already lurked so much and I haven't found anything.

This config has a lot of issues.

I would start by resetting to defaults and rebuild, adding only one network at a time.

To start, don’t try to do the single ssid/multiple password route. Instead, create one ssid per network. This way you can prove the VLANs are working properly first.

Could you pinpoint those issues? I'm pretty sure I'm going to repeat those when remaking this. Also, would be really nice if you provided any better resources than the documentation (since it didn't have anything about the VID option in wifi-vlan config)

I’m on mobile at the moment so it is too hard to call out all the issues. After you reset, add just one additional network and post your config. I can help fix errors and you’ll see the recipe.

What does your topology look like? Is this the main router with DHCP server elsewhere? Or is there an upstream router?

We should start with:

  • a topology diagram, complete with labels indicating the infrastructure devices (routers/APs/switches/DHCP servers), their addresses, and the brand+model of each so we can understand how this device fits into your network.
  • A description of what VLANs exist in the upstream network already
  • A port-by-port description port-vlan membership for the OpenWrt device, including tagging status for each VLAN.
  • The default config of your current device (after you reset it to defaults):

Please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following commands and post it here using the "Preformatted text </> " button:
grafik
Remember to redact passwords, MAC addresses and any public IP addresses you may have:

ubus call system board
cat /etc/config/network
cat /etc/config/wireless
cat /etc/config/dhcp
cat /etc/config/firewall

Regarding the previous setup, I had an upstream router which had the DHCP server, and I didn't configure any VLANs there.

Here is the whole configuration dumped: this time with a new setup, with one ap - one vlan.
My current goal is to just to connect to that new VLAN AP and get a response from a DHCP server.

Does the upstream device run openwrt or another firmware that allows you to configure additional downstream networks and VLANs?

If so, start with the upstream.

If not, you’ll use the guest wifi on a bridged AP tutorial as a model. Configure that and get it working and I can show you how to connect it to Ethernet.

https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/guestwifi/guestwifi_dumbap

For now, I don't want to do anything with the upstream device. I want to have my current config just working. My current goal is to just have than one ap - one vlan thing, without any other devices involved.

Ok. It is often better to handle all the routing on the main router, assuming it is possible. But for the situation where it isn’t, or like yours where it is preferable to leave the main router alone, the guest wifi method I linked above is the correct starting point. Once that is working, connecting it to Ethernet with proper VLANs is simple.

I replaced the VLAN interface with an empty bridge as the article suggested and the result is still the same.

For some reason I have to specify an iplist instead of a single ip - instead my dnsmasq crashes: inconsistent DHCP range at line 33 of /var/etc/dnsmasq.conf.cfg01411c

Remove the two lines marked with -:

And remove the force line from the vlan100 DHCP server:

Line 33 is odhcpd... I'm not seeing any explicit errors here, but maybe try removing the IPv6 related entries from VLAN100 (everything below the dhcpv4 server line).

Then reboot and try again.
