I set the ip in windows to 192.168.0.100 (Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0)
Downloaded the OpenWrt from the guide (openwrt-24.10.4-ath79-generic-tplink_cpe710-v2-squashfs-factory) and Renamed it recovery.bin.
Using Tftpd64 software I set the ip there to 192.168.0.100 and put the Renamed (recovery.bin) OpenWrt firmware to the Tftpd64 directory and set the directory pointing to that location.
Windows firewall disabled. Hold the Reset while plugging in the POE cable to the antenna to power it on, for 10 - 40 seconds.
The flash (received and sent data) went through as it shows in the Tftpd64 log.
Flash not successful, I am not sure if I am doing things wrong, I have tried many times.
Do I need the Serial cable ? or does this method can also work just using TFTP, like I tried with the Tftpd64 software?
I am trying to flash OpenWrt since this TP-Link CPE710 can't access the lower Bands/Channels. I have an AP (xfinitywifi) that is on channel 44, that I'm trying to connect to.
Which means you can just update it using the existing web UI on the router and the file you downloaded instead of messing with tftp.
Best to head to https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/ and select the router and the version of OpenWrt you wish to install. Read the instructions beside each file option.
Tried to upload the firmware from the link You provided, with proper one for my antenna, via antennas GUI, got error.
Failure " The uploaded file is incorrect "
You can attach images here, i am looking for something like US CA UN CN region code to compose safeloader faceplate to tell OEM upgrade interface to accept file.
When I did research about all this, few posts came up with people posting about unable to upload OpenWrt firmware from the Web-GUI , it's not accepting the firmware that way, maybe it's blocked by OEM TP-Link firmware, I tried few different versions and even tried to downgrade the TP-Link OEM firmware, no luck, it will just pop up window, "failure" wrong firmware or The uploaded file is incorrect, messages. On TP-Link website under firmware it does say, that the firmware I currently have installed can't be downgraded and to contact support if needed downgraded, I emailed support already, waiting for a response. Maybe if firmware will get downgraded maybe Web-GUI will accept OpenWRT firmware.
Right, can upload images here. I don't see anywhere that will state US version, My antenna is US version. Based on the registration from the serial # I uploaded on TP-Link website to get the support. You see what it's strange that there it's shows version 2.60
I was unaware that this antenna doesn't support lower channels, like channel 44, I have many hotspots that I can use, but can't with this TP-Link antenna. I have Ubiquity Nanostation M5 that works great connecting to them, can pick up all the channels, But it's only N, not AC so slower UP/Downloads speeds, If I knew this TP-Link being weird with not allowing lower channels I wouldn't buy it. Only after purchase I started troubleshooting and found out that it doesn't support the lower channels.
