Unable to Access router after changing from "Static IP" to "DHCP Client" [Solved]

Hi all,
Yesterday, I got an old TP-Link TL-WR740N V6.1 router and was quite excited since it was supported by OpenWrt. I managed to install OpenWrt V18.06.9 on it. Everything was fine until I changed from Static to DHCP Client on LAN. Now, I can't access the router interface with 192.168.1.1. I don't have much technical knowledge but really interested trying OpenWrt. Searched for a solution but was unable find one. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

you can try to connect another router (its LAN port) to this router (LAN port) the router will assign an IP address to the TP-LINK's LAN

or press the reset button which returns to the initial state

Change static lease to dhcp client on LAN, that gives a flashback to my very first try at OpenWrt a long time ago and my very first change of settings and I got the same result as you.

If you don’t have a serial connection and Linux cli and/or uci knowledge I recommend simply to reset the router with the reset button.

But why did you install 18.06.09? That firmware isn’t supported by OpenWrt at all anymore.

Let's clarify this aspect, this is a 4/32 device, which is below minimum system requirements and not supported by OpenWrt anymore. Version 18.06.x is EOL and unsupported for around 4 years by now, it does contain unfixed -known- security issues and shouldn't be used (in any capacity) anymore, upgrading is not optional (but entails replacing the hardware).

Thank you. The issue was solved by resetting. The problem was that the reset button wasn't working when I attempted to reset, and it seems like the resetting functionality has been swapped over to the WPS button.

The issue was resolved by resetting. Somehow, the resetting functionality has been swapped over to the WPS button, so I kept pressing the regular reset button.

I believe this firmware was the latest available for the mentioned router?

Thank you for pointing that out; this is more of a hobbyist project for me and won't be used for internet purposes.
