UF896 - Qualcomm MSM8916 LTE router ~384MiB RAM/2.4GiB flash, Android: OpenWrt?

How are these releases created?
Is there a repo or similar for that?

It would be great to have more insights into this process so that everybody could create this kind of releases independently.

i now found the flash.sh, but i dont get what you mean with also restore files inside your modem.bin dump and copy all files to /lib/firmware of openwrt. what's the point of doing this and how can i do this?

When you flash Debian or openwrt, your modem manager most likely will not work unless you move files from your dumped file modem.bin (use 7zip to decompress bin file), you will find 17 files or something, you need to copy these files to your flashed image to folder /lib/firmware, reboot your stick and modem should work.

Try
1- press and hold reset button and insert stick to pc + release reset button then press and hold power button (keep an eye on windows device manager and let it update itself till you see 9008 mode under COM devices)

2- press and hold reset button and insert stick to pc + while holding reset button also press and hold power button (check carefully windows device manager)

what was the software you used to dump the stick?
I used edl but its not possible to unzip the modem.bin

i tried p7zip tar and unzip on ubuntu

Under Ubuntu you can rename the file to modem.img then mount the image to explore the files.
I also used edl to dump stock firmware

thanks that worked.

But there are a lot more than 17 files.
Are all of them important or just a specific subset?

i ran the flash.sh now, but it only executed the first 3 commands and then it got stuck:

./flash.sh
Erasing 'boot' OKAY [ 0.113s]

Is there anything I have to do to set it into fastboot again after the fastboot restart command is triggered to continue with the execution?

Can not remember the number of files but all are important and need to be copied

If you can not enter adb or fastboot mode, you can restore your dump using edl mode by shorting two headers mentioned in this tutorial
For me I have flashed debian from tutorial first then flashed openwrt over it

hi,

I have flashed debian on UZ801 v3.0, but I'm struggling with openwrt.

Can you please guide how to flash it with Openwrt?
From which firmware have you flashed it with?

thank you in advance

There was this link to a onedrive posted in september by @jackadam1981 which contains current images of OpenWrt and flash scripts like the one used in the zip of the debian tutorial

I think this should also run without flashing debian first because its the same process like flashing debian. Is that correct @jackadam1981?
But it did brick one of my v3.2s for now, so i'm not absolutely sure.

The only thing thats unfortunatly missing is an easy way to build own/new images like the ones in the onedrive in case that the drive does not get updated any longer.
It would be awesome if @jackadam1981 could provide the informations for that to us.

Does anybody know how to unbrick a UZ801_V3.2?
The layout is different so i don't know which pins i need to bridge

You can flash openwrt, or debian directly at any time.

This is the compilable openwrt source code
HandsomeMod/HandsomeMod: IOT freedom for end users! (github.com)

I tried to shorten the pins on my bricked FYUZ801_V3.2, but somehow messed it up so that it did not work.

Do you have to shorten the pins while plugging the stick in and then release it after x seconds or is there a different trick to it?
What is the best way to shorten them without damaging the board?

Yes, you have to have the pins shorten while plugin the dongle. Usually, keeping the short for like 5 secs does the trick. However, last time I kept the pins shorten for the whole time, successfully flashing Debian using EDL.

How do you shorten the pins? I don't think soldering wires to the board is a good idea, is there any other way to do this effectively?
