Trouble with LG TV wireless drop?

Just flashed my WRT1900ACS to OpenWrt 19.07.2 r10947-65030d81f3

Had upgraded my Internet connection and the Linksys firmware was not passing the speed through.

I had never had a problem previously with my LG TV wireless connection before, but now it seems to be dropping almost daily. I have to go in and reconfigure it to make it work again. TV model is OLED55B9 and it is connected to the 5 GHz network.

The wireless connection looks WAY better than any of the other devices that are connected:
Showing as 866.7 Mbit/s, 80MHz, VHT-MCS 9, VHT-NSS 2, Short GI

Anyone have any ideas? The TV is the only client with issues and is the only one connected at 866.7 Mbit/s? I would prefer not to switch to the 2.4 GHz network and give up bandwidth...

My personal experience with LG tvs(two "cheaper" models) is the internal wlan failing from the ribbon cable connecting it to the main board inside being either cheap or just plainly loose

Same here!

Philips TV (with Android) and 2 wireless routers.
Everyday TV lost Wifi connection and need to be reconfigured again. Every. Day.

Probably it's something Android related because on same Wifi have connected few iOS, macOS and Windows devices. Just TV have issues...

It doesn't appear to be about loose cables, and the LG has it's own OS - webOS (Linux based)
This continues to happen pretty much daily, and it is on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.
I had read somewhere else that LG and 5 GHz can be flaky, but that does not appear to be it here.

This is all I can see in the SYSLOG

If I can't figure this out, maybe I will try dd-wrt, or buy a new router...

If you are considering buying a new router (or if the TV is far away from the router and the signal isn't great), you could look into putting one of the router's next to the TV and connect it by cable, and setting up WDS between the two routers. You would need to make sure that the both routers support WDS and preferably with chipsets from same manufacturer to ensure compatability.

I have previously experienced intermittent WLAN connection with an LG set (different model though), but the distance to the router was kind of a stretch. I ended up connecting a cable, which also brings the bonus of Wake on Lan, which works with the mobile remote app. The down side with the cable in my case is that every few days, the TV decides to refuse to respond to the physical remote (that has nothing to do with me using the remote app or not, as I don't actually use it often), and I have to disconnect the power cable for a few seconds. It is probably a fault in my set, but maybe some one can confirm they have no issue with that.

Thanks mhegab, I don't think distance or signal strength is an issue. About 10 feet to the router, and signal seems really great (when it is connected!)
It must be something with the OpenWRT firmware, as this was never an issue until I flashed the router. The TV never dropped it's connection when the stock firmware was installed, and no other devices seem to have this issue?
If I could run ethernet easily I would, but even though it is only 10 feet away, there is a hallway and two drywall walls in the way, so cable connection means dropping into the basement (where the previous owners in their infinite wisdom thought a permanent ceiling would be a great idea :rage:)

try to play with encryption wpa/wpa2 try to set a static ip to the tv. just to make sure

I have had a top of the range LGTV for over a year and I experienced the same twice over that period.

The fix for me was to reset to factory default (and then reset all my settings of course ;( ).

Also make sure all updates have gone trough.

If the issue is internet related, COVID may be slowing your internet connection. Check whether you internet speed is up to scratch.

Thanks @MidGe48 - I have tried turning off quickstart and setting a static IP.
If that doesn't help, I will try your suggestion!

Hey bud! I'm having the same problem with the same TV. The issue first appeared after flashing latest OpenWRT image. The same issue is happening with custom image (hnyman's) and official image.

My syslog is filled with the same two messages:

Have you managed to resolve the problem? The only thing that seems to be helping for me is to use 2.4 GHz instead of 5.0 GHz.t

Set a static IP for it, that worked for me.
