I need to expand the switching capacity of my network. I would be ok just getting a bigger 1G unmanaged switch and call it a day, but before I do that, I needed more experienced OpenWRT folks for a little guidance here.

Ideally, I'd like to get the topic switch (TRENDnet TEG-30284) and put OpenWRT on it. I don't see an image in the TOH for it specifically. Would a "generic" OpenWRT image suffice?

OOOOORRRR...... are TRENDnet devices not friendly to the whole custom flashing OpenWRT "thing"?

Thanks in advance for the responses and helping me understand. (I tried researching as best as I could regarding hardware not listed in the ToH/generic flashing/etc. and failed to find helpful info.) Cheers! :slight_smile:

there aren't any "generic" OpenWRT images for switches.

depends on the HW they use.
but even if supportable, someone still need to add the support.

https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=SNAPSHOT is a better place to look for supported hw.
if it doesn't come up, it's not supported.
