TPLINK WR6400 v5.3 would work with firmware from v5?

Sorry to bother you but I'm totally new to this.
TPLINK WR6400 v5.3 is one of the few routers I can find (in the market and in the price range) that "would support" OpenWRT except for the part of the version.
In the spec, it says v1,v4 and v5 are supported. Would It work also for v5.3? Has anyone tried it? I dont want to buy something to turn it into a brick the first day. Please could someone with knowledge/practical experience confirm. Cheers!

If you mean the TL-MR6400 (WR6400 doesn't seem to exist), then yes, the v5 image works for v5.3, at least I didn't encounter any issues with flashing, lan, wan, wwan or wifi after installing OpenWRT 23.05 a few weeks ago. This thread also confirms that it works.

Though if you don't need WWAN (lte), there should be better options for an OpenWRT-supported router.
