TP-Link WR841N(D) 11.x cannot get web page

Hi, I uploaded the firmware to the router using the original firmware upgrade firmware function. I used the file openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr841-v11-squashfs-factory.bin

After upgrading, I can see OpenWrt wifi from my pc and phone. I can connect through wifi and get an ip address. I can even connect from the phone and the pc and then ping each other. I can ping 192.168.1.1 as well.

But when I enter 192.168.1.1 into the web browser, it says it can't be reached in both the wireless and wired adapters. From the phone, it says err connection refused.

Any ideas and what to try?

Is this a snapshot image or a release image from 18.06.4?

If a snapshot, then it will not have LuCI pre-installed. Further, ar71xx has been deprecated and is no longer being built on master. ath79 is the proper target to use for current devices that used to be on the ar71xx target.

The TL-WR841ND v11 is a 4/32 device. Are you aware of the implications of this?

I got the files from the dd-wrt website. I'm completely new at this and am beginning to suspect that I'm not even at the right website. Is openwrt the same as dd-wrt?

It would seem I've bricked my device. No biggy, I bought a used one on ebay to experiment with. It cost me more in shipping than the device itself cost ($6). I bought this particular router because I use one and have another as a spare. So, I know the factory firmware. I've just been curious about dd-wrt and so figured I didn't have much to lose.

I'm about to toss the router as I don't see anyway to fix it now.

They are very different, down to even very different Linux kernel versions and patches.

When you decide to replace it, there are devices suitable for ongoing use that have at least 16 MB of flash and at least 128 MB of RAM available starting at around US$20 (new).
