TP-Link TL-WR841N(D), WA701N(D), WR740N(D), WR741N(D), WR743N(D), WR940N, WR941N(D) - LADUS / JULIA / Ultra Lite / VPN builds

Thank you LADUS. A lot.
Installed now...

Working flawless:+2

Regards.

Hi LADUS.

A problem.
My setup is: 1 main router + 9 others connected using wireless wds bridge.
After a few hours running your firmware, my repeaters stops to communicate. I have to enter one by one using a cable and reconnect the interface to restore the communication.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Thanks.

@julianocs Which build are you using?
If you are using JULIA build, have you tried updating it, I made updated build yesterday.
I think there was a problem with some ath9k devices that was fixed.
See here.
Did you have problems using LADUS build?
(I just noticed you calling me ladus, it is just a build name - (L)uCI (A)dblock (D)NSCrypt (U)PnP (S)QM)

Maybe I should make future builds using stable 17.01 branch?

Hi @hmd61551.

First, sorry for calling you LADUS... :slight_smile:

I didn´t try LADUS or LADDUS build, just JULIA build (downloaded yesterday. I dont know the exactly hour).
Did you make 2 JULIA builds yesterday?

Do you want that i test LADDUS build?
Or JULIA build is fixed?

Regards, and sorry again for calling you wrong.

@julianocs
I just updated JULIA build.
It includes latest patches and latest kernel 4.4.45.
If you can, test JULIA build now, I think it should be fixed.

Hi Ladus,

Many thanks for your work!!!

I've only a question to try to diagnose a problem I've with my amule installed on ubuntu.

In your last LADUS ans Julia release the unpnp doesn't work in amule (but, for example it work well on Transmission bittorent), in the 25.12.2016 Lede unofficial release of another tread ( Build for TP-Link TL-WR841N(D) [all versions] ) the unpnp works well on both Amule and Trasmission.

The question is:
Do you have any idea what is the difference between the upnp installed on the AMQ-25.12.2016 release and the one installed on your Ledus/Julia releases?

@Axl_Mas
Thank you for your feedback.

I just updated JULIA build and, if you can, check it out in the first post.
UPnP works perfectly fine on my end but I am using Arch Linux. I will try it in Ubuntu VM later.
There is no difference between amq and my upnp implementation. I do not know what package versions amq build includes.

LADUS build will be updated tomorrow, and I will probably switch that build to 17.01 branch so, if you can, test these builds and report back.
Thanks

Updated now... The main router and one repeater. Let's wait a few hours to see if it's stable. I give you a feedback.

Thanks.

@hmd61551,

Running flawless for 4.5 hours.
No connection drops, no restarts.
Everything working great (Ipv6, Ddns, Unpnp, Sqm).

Thank you very much.
Regards.
Juliano

New LADUS builds are up and I switched them to stable 17.01 branch.

Material LuCI theme and nano are not included any more but ppp/ppoe are and will be included in all builds.

@hmd61551

Thanks!
The only difference between JULIA and LADDUS was Dnscrypt and Addblock, write?

Are you planning to keep updated LADUS and LADDUS only?

Regards,
Juliano

Can u make a lite version of it?
With LUCI (Material theme), QoS and PPPoE features.
without DDNS, UPNP, IPv6, Adblcok, DNSCrypt

@julianocs
That is correct.

I plan to keep all my builds updated. LADUS builds are going to stay on 17.01 branch for now because it is more stable.
JULIA build is going to be with latest packages.
Builds are going to be updated once a week, every Sunday.

@pra
Yes, I was thinking about releasing LADUS builds with "lite" or base versions allong with folder called packages where you would be able to find precompiled packages that can be found in "full" versions.
LADUS would be without IPv6 and LADDUS would be with IPv6.

There is also a third option with only two builds:
LADUS 17.01 with base tweaks + LuCI with Material theme, IPv6, QOS or SQM, UPnP, pppoe, nano
JULIA - same as it is now
This would be much simpler.
Number of downloads is telling me that JULIA has highest amount of users so that build is going to stay.

User feedback and opinions are welcome. :slight_smile:

Thanks so much LADAS!

Bricked my WR841N when trying to compile DDNS build myself, but now back online after finally getting TTL -> USB and found your builds! You are a legend!!! :heart_eyes:

Thank's hmd61551, I use yours Julia version and all seem to be fine, i use the wr841 as AP(wds) in couple with a Cpe210 (lede too) as client(wds). I disable from startup dnscrypt-proxy, miniupnpd and firewall.
Is possible to have a very lite version?

@pra @peppeve
Initial "lite" build is up and you can check it out at the bottom of the first post.
It is based on 17.01 branch.

I'm testing it. I keep update you. Is possible to apply the 30dbm hack on you're firmware? I have the v11. There is some reference in this post https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=64111

Hi Hmd61551,

You really rock, many thanks for giving new life to our wr841 routers! Very appreciated.

I've checked the unpnp, it works flawless on Ubuntu, I have a problem only with the program Amule, but it's a program incompatibility with the latest unpnp libraries, not a bug of unpnp itself ;).
Every other program I used works perfect with unpnp version of your releases.

I would like to give a try also to your Lite version, but I didn't understand what is the features list: no ipv6, no Adblock unpnp?, dncrypy? SQM? QOS?

Thanks again for your builds,
Axl

@peppeve
U-boot and art are not set as writable so I don't think it is by default.
I could compile images with u-boot and art set as writable and then it should be possible. I just could not find hacked art for other device versions, just for v9. Is it the same for all devices?
Reghack is already implemented in all my builds.
Writable u-boot could be used for flashing U-boot mod on v8,9,10,11 and writable art for writing hacked art with mtd.
I have only one device and it is v7 and I can not afford playing with this and taking a risk :blush:
I could make build with writable u-boot and art but I could not guarantee for them not bricking your device.
If anyone is interested in this kind of builds, leave a comment or suggestion.

@Axl_Mas
You could try contacting Amule developers or file a bug report :wink:
Ultra lite version is stripped down and only basic features are added.
This is what I did:

  • Removed kernel debugging
  • Stripped unnecessary exports from the kernel image and unnecessary functions from libraries
  • Compiled with gcc 6.3
  • Disabled IPv6
  • squashfs block size set to 1024 Kib
  • Reghack (WiFi channels 12 and 13)
  • Installed LuCI with default theme and ppp/ppoe included
    As result sysupgrade images are only 3.1MB in size.

i think that v9 and v11 have same hardware then the art partition should be the same, you can give me v9 partition i can check if it is the same of my v11 version.
