TP-Link TL-WR802N v4 how back to stock firmware?

How can I revert the TP-Link TLWR802N v4 back to stock firmware? I used the original firmware from https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/download/tl-wr802n/#Firmware extracted the zip, renamed the bin to tp_recovery.bin and see how it gets downloaded. But afterwards the device just blinks, I don’t even get a LAN link.

The device isn’t fully bricked, since as long as I flash OpenWRT it gets alive again.

Please help be to get back to stock firmware.

Multiple hw revisions behind that link?

Thanks for the hint. I only had “v4” in the title. Edited now the post, to point out that v4 stock recovery is needed.

That is the BIN in ZIP on their website..... Try various versions though

Thanks. I’ve tried all 3 versions, they provide. With each after tftp-flashing LED just blinks and even no ethernet link is established.

Don’t know what to try next :sad_but_relieved_face:

If you consider it dead and there is no EU on the label you can try US versions too. Also set TFTP session timeout to 30min - it king of waits until all flash is programmed then sends ack for last block to the server.

There is EU label on it.
Sad thing is, it is not dead. Works with OpenWrt, but not with stock firmware :sad_but_relieved_face:

Then dont risk it :frowning:
Later 8/64 extenders were legendary to take 15min to program flash, just consider this, make tftp server timeouts twice the normal reboot after tftp upload.
also learn last bits of .bin and check with wireshark on tftp server that those were last transferred....

Flashing Openwrt with tftp reliably works every time. Just not the stock recovery. After uploading the file, it takes a few minutes where LED is off and ethernet connection remains. After that WR802N seems to try to reboot and then LED just blinks.

Power off and on - maybe it boots
Power on with non-recovery button pressed (should be in their user guide how to reconfigure the device)

Any ideas where to find a working firmware that I can flash via tftp or at least write with mtd @firmware with OpenWRT installed?

I am really desperate and hope to get this fixed soon.
