You should try to use </> to put everything related to configs snd logs etc. It's better to read that way. Please edit your posts and do so.

thanks ahmar I just tried
"code" "code/"?

For a large block of code, use
at the start and
at the end to put the code in a scrollable box. That way your post doesn't take up the whole page.

thanks for your patience guys.
I am not getting the scrollable box though with 'code' though.
what am I doing wrong?

Enter the tags with square brackets exactly as I show it.
Here is your code...
The box doesn't appear until you have the closing
.

I have some W25Q128FV and one USB Programmer CH341A on order.
can I somehow get the openwrt on my existing chip so that I don't have to wait so long?
The original chinese firmware is shit and wireless is unstable on my windows machine.

When it says "autobooting in 1 seconds", hit the number 4 key. This should get you a bootloader prompt. Then you could possibly TFTP load... something. The question is what image is right for your hardware. I'm guessing the SoC is an MT7620 but it could be an MT7628.

can you guess by the heatsink in the photo?
I could pull the heatsinks off.
I tried ESC and any key, not 4 though. will do that right now.
thanks.

32MB W25Q256 32MB SOP-8 for 2.50$ including shipping. will that do?
It has been mentioned above that a different driver is needed?

If I brick it I can always fix it with the USB programmer.

doesn't seem to accept 4

I suggest to either repeatedly press the reset button after turning it on or keep it pressed. The time is only 1 second and you may already be past the time window if you are going to look at the screen for the prompt to appear.

thanks, tried both many times. this button has no function.
any other ideas?

At this point I'd suggest to update the bootloader. The one which works with OpenWrt and then create your own custom firmware from build process and flash to your device. This bootloader seems to not work as intended.

The MT7615 chip has no OpenWrt driver. It will not be possible to have 5 GHz working. More and more it looks like this model is not a good candidate.

Please use "Preformatted text </>" for logs, scripts, configs and general console output.
grafik

will do tmomas.
mk24 I realised that this unit is pretty much worthless.
well I can still kill the flies with it.

what would you experts recommend that goes well with openwrt, is the wrt7500 in the newest chinese version any better?
I don't worry so much about the memory if it is SOP-8.
And I wanted to give my first reballing job a try.

Are you restricted to Chinese versions of devices only?

Knowing your budget would help.

At a high level, there's a good summary of "good" options (which, budget permitting, should be no less than 16 MB of flash and 128 MB of RAM, preferably more, and, depending on your bandwidth and what you want to run, probably a multi-core ARM SoC) can be found at and following

I would like to go 5Ghz MU MIMO ac, ad, ax or whatever it is called.
1300Mbps (lab condition, 5Ghz without the added 2.4Ghz) would be nice with a true 600Mbps-800Mbps link over Gb LAN to my NAS (optimum home condition).

I have an Huawei B310s-518 on order, hoping to get better VOIP quality through MIMO.

chinese because it is cheap and they are good with their shipping to the dominican republic.
US based would work as well.

If it is a cheap SOP-8 4MB / 8MB version with 32MB or 64MB FBGA84, that can be upgraded to 32MB & 128MB for 3$.

multi-core ARM 3x3:3 or 4x4:4 would be perfect with mPCIe or USB3.0 that runs openwrt.
