I have a new TP-Link TL-WA1801 v1 (US) that I use as a wireless bridge (client mode) for WOL of PC. I have found that the 5Ghz radio has some problems with the OEM firmware. The 2.4Ghz seems more stable. I have also read of a few users that solved that issue with Openwrt firmware but their details are limited. I suspect they had the older TP-Link TL-WA1201 and found that firmware here. I believe the chipsets are the same between these two models. Does anyone know if the factory image there is compatible with this model? Thanks for any help. Google has not been my friend for this issue which is rare.
These are embedded devices, which each need their own bespoke image exactly tailored to their (hardware- and software) requirements. There are no 'generic' images that will work on multiple different routers, either your exact model (down to its hardware revision) is supported - or it isn't (if it isn't, you may be able to propose a pull request adding support for it, but the necessary down-to-the-hardware development would be all yours, as you're the only one with the hardware on the desk).
Thanks for the clarification. Will research doing that if it becomes necessary.
