TP-Link M7000 - possible?

Hello OpenWRT Community,

I'm interested in running OpenWRT on my TP-Link M7000 mobile LTE router, but I cannot find it in the official hardware compatibility list. I'd like to know if anyone has successfully installed OpenWRT on this device or if it might be compatible despite not being officially listed.

Device Specifications:

  • Model: TP-Link M7000
  • Type: Portable 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi Router
  • Network: Supports 4G LTE-Advanced Cat4
  • Speed: Up to 150 Mbps download / 50 Mbps upload
  • Battery: 2000mAh (8 hours operation)
  • Default Management: tpMiFi App
  • Connectivity: Shares connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi devices

I've already checked the official hardware table and searched the forums, but couldn't find specific information about this model. The device uses a web interface accessible via http://tplinkmifi.net (default IP seems to be 192.168.0.1).

Has anyone:

  1. Successfully installed OpenWRT on this device?
  2. Attempted but failed to install OpenWRT?
  3. Identified the chipset/processor used in this device?
  4. Found any way to access the device via SSH or telnet?

If this exact model hasn't been tested, are there similar TP-Link mobile routers that work with OpenWRT that might share hardware similarities?

Any information, pointers, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I understand that mobile routers with cellular modems can be challenging for custom firmware due to proprietary drivers, but I'm hoping there might be a way.

Thank you in advance for your help!

To really determine if the device is supportable (and currently it does not have support by the project), it is necessary to know the key components inside the device.
