Hi all,
I have a TP-Link AX1800 (US) router with hardware version v1.2 and I am trying to determine how it relates to the Archer AX23 and which OpenWrt build and installation method I should be using.
The AX23 wiki page states that TP-Link Archer AX23 hardware revisions v1.20 / v1.2 / v1.0 are identical and supported by OpenWrt. It also mentions that the European AX1800 HWVER: 1.20 is supported. Based on that, it looks like the AX23 v1 OpenWrt images should apply here as well.
One thing that is confusing me is that the FCC ID printed on the sticker of my AX1800 (US) does not match the FCC ID commonly associated with the Archer AX23. I want to confirm that the hardware is actually the same before proceeding further.
What I have tried so far:
I attempted to flash the OpenWrt factory bin image for the Archer AX23 v1 using the stock TP-Link web UI firmware upgrade page, but the upload fails immediately with an error saying "unable to upload".
My questions are:
- Is the US TP-Link AX1800 v1.2 the same hardware as the Archer AX23 v1.x from an OpenWrt support perspective?
- If so, should I be using the same OpenWrt factory and sysupgrade images as listed for the AX23 v1?
- Is the "unable to upload" error expected when using the OEM web UI, and should I instead be using a recovery or alternative installation method?
- Are there any special steps or caveats specific to this model that I should be aware of during initial installation?
- Any advice on recovery options in case something goes wrong would be appreciated.
I am attaching a picture of the sticker on the back of the unit showing the exact model, hardware version, and FCC ID.
Thanks in advance!
