Ok, honestly inherited a nice Archer (my 5th) but this one has installed something strange.
IT IS SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE TO RESET IT.
Whatever I do, how long I might press the reset button with or without power on (1-45 sec) at the end it roams a guest wifi from the previous business owner.
It's not even possible to destroy it. It ends up broadcasting the same and same signal. Good job if you see it from those guys side.
It is probably running a custom build which has those custom settings squashed into the ROM itself.
If the bootloader is still stock, you can use TFTP recovery. Try holding down the reset button while turning the power on. After about 10 seconds of holding the button, the WPS light should light up. If it does, you can then prepare a TFTP server and use it to flash a fresh copy of OpenWrt. That will delete any existing firmware and settings.
The TFTP recovery checks for a country code embedded in the file. It must match the original market country code marked on the label next to the model number.
That is assuming that the bootloader has not been modified.
I usually go right to serial, even on an uncomplicated case it is faster.
