TP-Link Archer C7 v2 unstable on version 18.06 - Radios turning off randomly

I have a TP-Link Archer C7 and have used the LEDE 17.01 for a few months now. I decided to upgrade to OpenWrt 18.06.1 once it is listed as stable and compatible with the Archer C7 v2, and my router became unstable, turning off the radios without apparent reason at random times. I downgraded to version 18.06.0 but the issue continued to happen. I used the very same configuration on 18.06.x that I'm using right now on LEDE 17.01 (which is not presenting any instability at the moment).

I use this firmware firstly for the IPv6 support, which is unlikely unstable on TP-Link's firmware and had installed only LuCI on it's default configuration.

I looked on the system log file but it was not helpful, with only the information that the radios were disabled at certain time, but without any clue for what caused that.

The external access (through WAN port) was disabled on that occasion, so I don't think it was someone disabling the radios on purpose. Also, the LAN ports and every other functionality were working just fine when the radios were disabled. To "fix" the problem I just needed to reactivate the radios manually, until eventually they were turned off again by no reason.

I can't reinstall the faulty firmware now on my router because it is being used by many people at the moment, and that is why I downgraded to LEDE 17.01 so quickly before doing more tests and collected data about this issue. I apologize for not being able to help with much more information besides this post.

I opened this thread to look for someone who might be having that issue who could help with more data or someone who have this router and could try to reproduce this problem. I think it could be the occasion to remove the Archer C7 from the list of supported devices of the version 18.06.x.

To attract the attention of others that might have a similar problem, you might want to make the title more specific about what is unstable with your unit or its configuration.

Without logs and potentially config, it is nearly impossible to diagnose your issue, especially as the Archer C7 v2 performs well for many people in a variety of situations.

As Jeff said, need more info from logs and config to be able to help. Also, some context regarding the WiFi environment you are in, are there many competing WiFi access points, do you have a clear channel?
The fact that radios continue to cut out on 17.01 could indicate an interference issue.

I have a couple C7v2's and they are pretty reliable with 18.06.1, I have experienced one or two issues, but think I saw those on 17.x as well. I run a second C7 as just an Access Point, and it's up for days, and I have some minor WiFi competition.

Title edited, thanks.

Yes, I am afraid it was a very specific case. About the configuration, I run the very same config on LEDE 17.01 right now. What config files could be helpful in this case?

Clear as the sky. There are no APs near the area where the Archer C7 is running.

They are OK on 17.01, no random cuts.

/etc/config/wireless (sensitive data redacted) might provide some clues.

Once you have the opportunity to some more tests, the logs might also provide clues. Having your logs from your running config on 17.01 to compare with would help too.

My c7 v2 is rock stable on 18.06.1 I have about 30 WIFI devices. Try a flash to 18.x with out saving configs.

I will try that, but this can take time once I can't turn off at any time because other people uses that device to stay connected.

A fact that I forgot to mention on the first post is that a second AP with no OpenWRT is WDSing the signal of the Archer C7. It is a very basic AP from a Brazilian vendor called intelbras (which uses chips from TP-Link if I'm not wrong). Anyways, with the 17.01 running there is no problem that device is there... It is identified in the system logs as xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:x3.
