TP-Link Archer C6 v3 (MT7621) Bootloop using Bridge VLAN Filtering or when having much Clients

I'm not sure how to proceed with our problem, I think it won't hurt to make a short entry in the forum :slight_smile:

We have installed 12x "TP-Link Archer C6 v3" with MediaTek MT7621 chipset in our school building. It is running one of the latest OpenWRT version (OpenWrt 22.03.3, r20028-43d71ad93e), all devices are configured identically.

  1. We first noticed that some routers restart and then get stuck in a boot loop. One AP in particular stood out, which always does this when many clients are connected. It is installed in a very popular location. We first thought it was a hardware defect and replaced the device with an identical one which has not caused any problems in the house so far. The effect remained. We also changed the power supply and cables, so it is a location-specific (number of clients?) phenomenon :slight_smile: However, the two other routers that were causing problems had no load. Also I am irritated that the bootloop is just aborted when there is a real power reset manually.

  2. We now wanted to make a change - independently of the previous problem. As a test, I switched on bridge VLAN filtering on one device for 3 ports in order to place an incoming tagged network untagged on the ports. Since then this router is stuck in a boot loop. I have connected the UART and attached the log below.

I found a similar entry for the device in the forum, but this is supposedly already fixed:

Kernel errors are not quite my area of expertise. It feels like the same kind of problem for me. Could this be the same problem as described there? Are we the only ones here having these problems? Does anyone have any experience or idea? Should I create a ticket somewhere? I do everything! :slight_smile:
