Hi All,
Ill see if I can explain this well enough, and seeing if Time Restrictions in the Traffic Rules section of LUCI operating as intended or if its just me not setting it up properly.
I started using the time restriction feature and setup a rule to block all internet for all devices. I set the rule up to operate Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, with the intention being, limit internet use on school nights between 830pm until 630am the next morning so internet not being when supposed to be sleeping.
All seemed to be working ok until for some reason I was up at 300am on Friday morning and noticed the internet was NOT being blocked. I spent ages trying to understand why.
The explanation I have come up with is because Im not applying the rule on Friday, the internet will effectively be unblocked for all of Friday, between 1200am to 1159pm because I did not apply the rule for Friday. I dont want to apply the rule to Friday because its not a school night and the kids can stay up on the internet that night so applying the rule will block them at 830pm like the other days.
This really raises the question, in the Time Restriction how can you block internet for days where you want to block overnight but time travels into the next day. If I leave the rule like it is then the rule is not really applying how I wanted it to by being:
- Open Friday between 1200am and 630am - dont want this
- Blocked Sunday between 1200am and 630am - dont want this
If I'm making this clear there are unintended consequences happening between days when the schedule applies and not.
Its almost like Time Restrictions page needs 2 time periods per day, to cover overnight periods where time cross between days? I really like the time restriction feature but having trouble applying rules properly for me.
Anyone else verify this or have some solution? (other than helping my children make the right choice by not being on the internet when they shouldnt be in the first place)
Thanks
