@ka2107 Can the 'arch' be read from an additional file (/etc/apk/arch.d?). I might add repositories for more generic architectures, for example aarch64_generic repositories for aarch64_cortex-a53 devices

my problem has solved by having wget-ssl and uclient-fetch included in packages list.
apk works fine now.

Is this the final apk that will no longer be replaced with apt?

There has never been any discussion of apt on OpenWrt that I've seen. apk was chosen due to its high functionality:size ratio, which is not a surprise coming from the Alpine Linux distro where, like OpenWrt, size is also a primary concern.

Except that this isn't a 'bug', but -for better or worse- a design decision of the apk v3 package format and 'unchangeable' for the time being, therefore inactionable. If the OP wants to influence future apk v4+ design decisions, they will need to participate in its development, providing patches/ code and make well founded arguments, not drive-by bugreports to annoy its developers.

Don't get me wrong, there are advantages in reusing well-known tools to dissect packages, but apk's upstream might have had a reason to go a different route - and dismissing them off-hand is not exactly a productive approach.

It's not a bug, is by designed. But I think it's a bad design. (Even alpine linux doesn't use apk v3 yet)

The latter would be the ideal behaviour. I've never understood why other package managers (I'm looking at you opkg) conflate upgrade with install like that.

You have APK automatically if you build from current main/master sources with the current defaults (like CONFIG_USE_APK).

But if you e.g. keep a stale full .config instead of allowing new defaults to propagate, you may naturally end up with old package selections. To prevent that, I always build from a short .config recipe, instead of using the old .config.

The easiest thing is probably to manually craft a short .config recipe for each target, and then tailor it for each OpenWrt version. The shirt recipe can be expanded to full .config by make defconfig or make menuconfig The .config recipe can easily be originally based on ./scripts/diffconfig.sh output I am building several community builds with that approach. Some testing and I can confirm that apk uses wget for downloading, just as opkg does.

This means it has the same problem opkg does. If you have active ipv6 on your lan (along with ipv4) and you have an openwrt device (like an access point, meshnode etc) and want to install or update anything, you also need an active ipv6 Internet feed, as wget/uclient-fetch will default to ipv6 and give up on failure.

The following script, taken from the mesh11sd package, will fix the problem:

	if ! grep "#!/bin/sh" /usr/bin/wget; then
		mv /usr/bin/wget /usr/bin/wget.bak
