Even the website takes ages to open unless I use a VPN

This is most likely not an issue with the OpenWrt sites... I would check with your ISP and/or do research to find out if there may potentially governmental restrictions on the site (some authoritarian countries have partial or total blocks on sites like this).

Things to try:

  • clean/new browser profile (to rule out profile issues)
  • different browser chrome, firefox, mullvad browser, edge (rule out browser issues)
  • different DNS provider 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 9.9.9.9 or DNS over HTTPS (DOH) (rule out dns issues)
  • check from a different computer or phone (rule out hardware/software/OS issues)
  • ping with vpn off and on (look at the differences)
  • traceroute with vpn off and on (look at the differences)
  • webproxy eg: kproxy.com or proxysite.com
  • VPN node from your country, if your VPN-node is currently not.

I use Firefox mobile app on my android phone and it works very well for everything except this forum.
Since the forum was upgraded a few months ago, almost every time I browse to the forum that tab gives a blank page.
If I restart Firefox all is well.
The forum software downloads many many megabytes of javascript and for some reason Firefox refuses to run it until restarted.

Is it possible you are seeing a related problem?
