Testing and comparing QoS algorithms

I want to know if there is a proper and fair way to test QoS performance of each router or algorithm ? Specially in terms of which one have the best stable ping as much as possible …

For example netduma vs QoS cake vs FQ codel algorithms ext…. .

Also, I always recommend to (after some initial surveying of the possibilities and whittling down to a small enough candidate list) actually using the candidates for say 1-2 weeks each. That allows to get a "feel" for the performance and is also more likely to test rater natural traffic scenarios one might not put into a test...

That said, I concur on flent (but e.g. iperf2, note the 2 here is also quite powerful as load generator).
