Syntax of DNS Forwards entries in Luci

In Luci - DNS Forwards tab, is this the correct way to use a specific DNS resolver for specific Domains?

Or better to use: /.tools/.ca/1.0.0.1 without the wildcard? Or without the dot '.' altogether, just /tools/ca/1.0.0.1

To me it seems like all 3 options are working
