Swapping my sim router for an Openwrt One router

Hello everyone, hope you are doing well
I have an OPPO 5G CPE T1a Router and am currently using it as a sim router, I was wondering if it'd be possible to get the Openwrt One router and replace it with my current one, my concerns are if the speeds will be the same and or better, if it is compatible, and if my ISP will have any issues with it. I contacted my ISP (etisalat) and they gladly said I can use my own router on the condition that they won't be able to help me from their side if there's an issue or error, which is ok.
I have a couple of reasons why I wouldn't recommend the OPPO 5G CPE T1a Router
-Unstable connection, randomly disconnects internet, even with full bars
-Firmware updates reduced my performance, TR-069 was forcefully added and cannot be disabled.
-If you get it from etisalat they will have a special locked firmware for it. This also applies to most if not all routers they provide with your plan

Thank you all!

Welcome to the forum.
I doubt that you can exchange the OPPO for a OpenWrt One, as it does not have a SIM card reader, as the OPPO does.
With the OPPO (SIM) router you are depending on the first (second and third) mobile tranceivers in your neighbourhood. If the coverage of those transceivers is low, your internet speed will be low.

All ISP's mostly deliver their modems with 'their' locked firmware (and TR069).
If you would buy your own OPPO SIM router you would be able to change settings without ISP interference. However this does not mean that the received signal will be better.

DG.
