Hi,
Can anyone share how to flash openwrt to MA5671A ?

Thank you

Hi everyone!

I've flashed successfully the firmware but there's one issue that bugs me... I've a Mikrotik RB4011 with RouterOS 7 and the problem is that the sfp+ interface goes up (running) only if the fiber is connected to the SFP module.

Without the interface running I cannot even SSH into the module to check what is wrong in case of a problem or to setup the module.

Am I the only one with this issue? I suspect (but I'm not sure) that the Mikrotik enables the interface only if it does not receive the RX Lose signal, is there a way to disable that via software?

Anyway, the module in general works, I can get around 750 Mbps downlink

Then, I assume you are kinda in the wrong forum here.

This is the most comprehensive thread about that specific module, which runs OpenWRT.

I just wanted to know if anyone managed to make it work with mikrotik and if anyone knows is the RX Lose signal can be disabled in any way (from the OpenWRT running module)

I have an rb4011 working with this module. I don't know if the RX Lose signal make any difference.
To force the module to work on my rb4011 The auto negotiation optión must be disabled, I fixed on 1 Gbps.

My RX Lose option in the SFP interface keeps unchecked. I have not tested if the module goes up with fiber cable disconnected.

That is already set

If the fiber is connected (and working) that is the expected behavior, the issue arises when you need to configure the module with the fiber disconnected or not working, in my case the interface goes down, not giving you the possibility to ssh into the stick to check why it is not working.

Would you mind trying that anytime? I don't know if the issue some wrong configuration of the module or on the router.

Other people with other hardware have it working correctly.

Also, has anyone managed to get past the 750 Mbps limit with Huawei OLTs?

Not sure whether the physical taping over that signal pin method might work here. Depends on how exactly the logic level is implemented I guess. I had great success with that method on some PCIe cards with some server vendor specific behavior.

on mikrotik that is normal, without link you cannot reach ip of sfp

what system do you install inside sfp? carlito or huawei root, i use huawei root for 2.5gbit with huawei olt

I use huawei root. On mikrotik rb4011 I can only set SFP interface fixed speed: 1Gbps or 10Gbps, so I think 2.5 Gbps it not reachable on RB4011. What router model do you use with the SFP?

mikrotik routers don't support 2.5gbit, i use pfsense on a desktop computer

Thanks for the clarification

Both have the same issue. Seems common with TIM Huawei OLTs... odd.

Where can I get the latest version firmware for the MA5671A SFP GPON? Thanks

there are two type of firmware, huawei root and carlito, which one do you want?

Should be the huawei root , it would nice if openwrt can have the firmware wiki page for the SFP.
Thank you so much

carlito:
mtd2.bin
mtd5.bin

rooted:
root_mtd2.img
root_mtd5.img

abort:
1224ABORT.bin

The link is dead. Can you give a new one, or can you share the source code to preserve it?

Update: found it: https://github.com/MokkaSchnalle/GPON-SFP-Tools

Hello, I have been watching this thread for a while and I have a few questions.

  • Is it possible to build the firmware for a MA5671A or a G-010S-P from scratch?
  • What firmware is the best one in terms of stability and functionality?
  • Is the OEM version from Source Photonics for sale anywhere?

Thank you very much.

Is there any workaround to reach the IP of the SFP without connecting it to the GPON fibre?

Dead? It is working fine.
